Seaborn Jones was born in Augusta, Georgia on 1 February 1788. He studied law at Princeton University and was admitted to the bar in 1808 and soon established a legal practice in Milledgeville, Georgia. In 1817, he was appointed solicitor general of the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit and by the 1920s he moved to Columbus, Georgia and was named the solicitor general of Georgia.
